At LIMB, we are focused on musculoskeletal and skin tissue engineering, utilizing cutting-edge and novel engineering strategies, biomaterials, and cell types. Under the supervision of Dr. Tamayol, our team is committed to developing innovative technologies and techniques to mimic the structure and biological functions of our body for an improved healing process. Our multidisciplinary research includes advanced manufacturing and biomanufacturing, micro/nanotechnologies, drug delivery, and |

Advanced biomanufacturing Our goal is to develop advanced bioprinting and biotextile processes that enable us to fabricate tissue-like constructs from biologically relevant materials. We also try to combine the advances in nanotechnologies and bioprinting to create the next generation of biomanufacturing platforms. One major application of these technologies is the treatment of musculoskeletal disorders. Some of these constructs include novel hydrogel foams and compartmentalized fibers. |
Smart implantable and microneedling techniques Non-healing wounds caused by diabetes mellitus account for one of the most common complications of this disease leading to increased healthcare cost, decreased quality of life, infections, amputations, and death. In addition, the infection related surgical failure is still a global challenge. Our goal is to develop wearable and implantable devices that are active and can monitor and regulate the injury site to facilitate the healing process. Here at LIMB, we are working on different microneedle platforms for wound healing applications. |
